Australian Parents for Climate Action welcomes the announcement from the NSW Government that will see all 2,200 NSW state schools open to installers of solar and battery systems.
Nic Seton, CEO of Australian Parents for Climate Action, said, “This is a smart move by the NSW Government that will accelerate the roll out of clean energy and save schools critical funds, particularly while electricity prices are rising. We congratulate NSW for stepping up to enable state schools to be part of a clean energy future.
“Over 12,300 parents across the country have signed our Solar Our Schools letter to state and federal leaders calling for the installation of solar and batteries in schools and early childhood centres. This really is a no-brainer policy with widespread public support.
“In the lead up to the NSW election, we call on all sides of politics to ensure that every school is included so that no community is left behind. Parents and students will be relieved when they see climate action and the associated education opportunities become available to them in their schools.”
This program creates the largest tendering of sites and rooftop capacity of any project in the country’s history. It comes after NSW previously announced 60 pilot schools for solar and battery installations as part of a virtual power plan trial.
