Tools to Champion the Solar Our Schools Campaign

We’re calling on the Federal government to fund solar panels and batteries for every school and early childhood centre in Australia that doesn’t yet have solar - or needs more! It's the perfect COVID-19 recovery economic stimulus project, creating clean local jobs Australia-wide, slashing school electricity costs, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to protect our climate!

We want to get over 10,000 signatures on our Open Letter by October - and we need your help to spread the word! Below are some tools that you can use to help us grow this campaign.

If you would like to get more involved, please sign up here as a School/Childcare Champion to receive regular support, or reach out to us at [email protected].

Spread the word

We'd love you to help us get more signatures on the Open Letter by sending it to your networks. Here's template wording that you can customise to reach out to your:

  • Principal
  • P&C/PFA/Parents' Committee
  • Eco Club/Sustainability Group
  • School/Childcare newsletter
  • Parents' groups
  • Local online groups

Share online

  • Share our campaign video online so people can watch (in just over a minute) why SOS is important - and how easy it is to support it!
  • Post some of our gorgeous social media tiles on your Facebook/Instagram/Twitter

Postering

We have a beautiful poster which you can print and put up around your local area to get your community's attention. Think of supermarket entrances, local cafes, hairdresser salons, libraries - wherever parents go! If you'd like to create a customised poster there are some templates here.

Craftivism - with suns!

We'd love for you and your families to make some gorgeous suns. Here is an inspiration PDF - so far we've had paint suns, chalk suns and even a sun made out of used bread tags! If COVID restrictions permit it in your area, you might even like to hold a Crafternoon with other families!

Share on your social media with #SolarOurSchools @ap4ca and a personal message why solar is important to you. Please send us your photos too, so we can share them on our channels - by emailing them to [email protected].

Parents for Climate meet and work on the lands of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and respect that sovereignty of those lands was never ceded. We pay respect to Elders, past and present and emerging, and acknowledge the pivotal role that Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Australian community.
