Yard Sign Blitz - sending a clear message to candidates

Have you seen our colourful yard signs?
In the lead up to the federal election we are playing our part in a movement wide campaign to show candidates that communities care about climate solutions and want to see available solutions implemented now, not later.

Parents for Climate are proud to be part of a diverse network of climate action, environment and social justice organisations who are advocating for a safe climate and a fair, fast and sustainable transition to clean energy.

During December, we began the first phase of our yard sign distribution with over 1,000 signs being sent to all states and territories. We are delighted to see these signs being proudly displayed on homes, at businesses and at community events. Our local group network is doing a stellar job distributing these signs in their communities and we are heartened by all the orders we are receiving from supporters spread far and wide. We're all working together to amplify important messages and get candidates to sit up and take notice!

What’s with the two different messages?

You might have noticed that we are distributing two distinct messages. Perhaps you’re wondering why?

We know that different messages are more impactful in different areas and we know that to get the attention of candidates and buy in from broad sections of a community we need more than one message to be impactful.

Message #1: Every Family Deserves Healthy, Affordable Energy Now!

This message is recommended in most communities where cost of living is dominating the narrative and where we need to show candidates that a fair, fast transition to clean energy matters to constituents. We know that continuing to burn dirty fossil fuels risks the health of our kids by adding pollution to the air today and by contributing to climate impacts into the future. Coal, gas and oil are neither healthy, and no longer affordable. Renewable energy from rooftop solar and wind are currently the cheapest sources of energy and many families are already experiencing the bill-busting benefits of these clean energy technologies. Renewable energy also reduces climate and air pollution and they are available now! It’s a win-win-win

Message #2: Protect Our Family No New Coal and Gas

This message is recommended in communities where there is a tight contest between Labor and Greens candidates. Polluting fossil fuels harm our kids and our communities and we can send a clear message that there is a groundswell of people who no longer support fuel sources that jeopardise the health, wellbeing and safety of their families.

Can you help amplify these messages to the candidates in your electorate?

There are 3 key ways you can help:

  1. Display a sign at your home or business
  2. Host a collection point (e.g. on a porch or in a carport) where others can pick them up
  3. Distribute signs in your area

Yard signs can be ordered by completing this form, you can also let us know the ways in which you'd like to help.

Have you already got your yard sign on display?
We’d love to see a photo and amplify your action! You can share your photos by emailing them to [email protected]
