On Sunday 7 June, our Parents for Climate local team will be at Zestiny Farm on the NSW Central Coast for something genuinely historic: a Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest BBQ cooking lesson. And we’d love you to join us.
The Big BBQ is bringing together 350+ people at this working farm, just over an hour from Sydney, to cook together, break a world record, and celebrate what’s possible when community, food, and clean energy come together. It’s the kind of day we exist for.
Clean energy in action
The entire event runs off-grid. BYD electric vehicles will power the electric grills via vehicle-to-load technology, backed by solar and battery storage from MyNu Energy. No diesel generators. No grid connection. Just sun, batteries, and a few hundred hungry people learning to cook.
This is exactly the kind of demonstration we talk about: clean energy made visible and real.
When your kids see their lunch cooked by solar power, it looks and tastes real. That’s the lesson that will last past the big day.
From the farm to the grill
The menu is veggie burgers made with vegetables sourced directly from Zestiny Farm. Participants join a structured cooking lesson led by a head chef, learn two recipes, and contribute to the world record tally — all in one go.
Beyond the record attempt, the day includes farm animal encounters, farm tours, and produce-picking activities. It’s designed to be genuinely fun for families, with the sustainability story woven in naturally. Big BBQ has also partnered with Entrapolis to make that story accessible and engaging for younger attendees.
Our local team will be there
Parents for Climate will be represented on the day by our local Central Coast team come say hello, share what you’re working on in your community, and be part of something that shows what a clean, sustainable future looks and tastes like.
This event is part of Big BBQ’s broader journey toward a 50,000-person BBQ in Sydney in 2028. The 7 June lesson is the first milestone and our community is helping make it happen.
