Extreme heat is no longer a future risk, it's already reshaping how families parent and how children grow up. Heat doesn't make headlines like a bushfire or a flood, but it's the deadliest climate hazard of all, and unlike disasters that hit one place, heatwaves hit whole cities and regions at once. With record heat already gripping the Northern Hemisphere and a super El Niño bearing down on Australia this summer, this conversation couldn't be timelier.
Join Parents for Climate and the Environmental Defenders Office as they unpack EDO's soon-to-be-published community guide, connecting the everyday impacts families are living through to established human rights and children's rights frameworks, and what a credible pathway to accountability actually looks like.
You'll walk away knowing:
How extreme heat is already affecting children's health, education and family life
What human rights and children's rights mean in the context of climate change
What you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones, understand your rights, and the steps available if you want to raise concerns about climate impacts on your family
Hosted by Parents for Climate. With special guest speakers, Dr Kim Loo, and Belinda Raymond from Environmental Defenders Office, the largest environmental legal centre in the Australia–Pacific region.
