This month the Federal Government are deciding on Australia’s 2035 emissions reductions target. This decision will define the world our children grow up in and the stronger the target is, the more protection future generations will have from the economic, social and health impacts of climate change. The target will also signal to the world, particularly our neighbours in the Pacific, whether Australia is willing to contribute to global efforts to tackle warming. The next 10 days are critical to send a message to the Labor Government that we want an ambitious, science-based target of Net Zero by 2035.
Let's come together to make our voice heard and urge the Federal Government to set a strong, science-based target of Net Zero by 2035. This Saturday 23rd at 2pm meet at Surfers Point (rain or shine), to chat about the 2035 carbon emissions target, a short walk and photopgraph with our placards. Many groups around the country are taking part in similar actions. We will bring plenty of placards to share, so just bring your good selves, or make your own placards if you have capacity (see placard text suggestions below or get creative, get the kids involved).
Placard ideas:
- Future on the Line: Net Zero by 2035
- For Our Kids: Net Zero by 2035
- Global Warming is Not Cool - Net Zero by 2035
- Cut Pollution, Not Their Future
- Climate Action Now
- Net Zero by 2035 - There is No Planet B
- For my future
