Join us for the Central Coast Climate Action Festival brought to you by Narara Ecovillage and Parents for Climate Central Coast!
We'll gather at the beautiful Narara Ecovillage to connect with other climate-concerned people from the Central Coast and learn about the solutions to the climate crisis that we can all get involved in. And we are launching a new local group: Parents for Climate Central Coast!
We have a special guest speaker, Tim Forcey, author of My Efficient Electric Home Handbook who will outline how to convert your home into an efficient, healthy and comfortable space suitable for our all-electric future. Tim will explain best-practice heating and cooling, hot water heat pumps, induction cooktops, draught-proofing, insulation, solar energy and much more.
You'll also hear from the founder of Parents for Climate, Suzie Brown, about how we can all make change together, especially with the coming Federal election. You'll also hear from school solar and sustainability expert, Sam Parris. about how schools and early learning centres can benefit from clean energy. Plus more guest speakers (see schedule below).
And most of all we want to hear from YOU! What do you want to get involved in? What activities do you think our group should do to engage more people on the Central Coast in climate action?
Bonus - before or after the workshops you'll have the chance to have a tour of the Narara Ecovillage and see the community battery, solar microgrid, community garden and ecohouses for yourself!
We will also have electric vehicle displays and stalls from a range of local climate organisations.
To help make this possible for busy parents to attend, we'll have some childrens' entertainment as well. For the older children there will be craft activities and a soccer game! For the toddlers there will be toys in the room adjacent to our meeting hall, so you can bring them with you. There's also a trampoline and playground next to the building.
We will have a cake stall and coffee cart available for you to get afternoon tea. And a suggested donation of $5 for the event would be much appreciated.
We look forward to meeting you then!
