Community Mapping Workshop

Community mapping is about learning and understanding the larger community you are engaging with. It is more than charting demographics. It is about understanding where you can connect with your target audience and who has power and influence in the community in general, in key institutions and organisations. Knowing your community helps you to be respectful, thoughtful, and effective.

Our objectives for this workshop are to:
1. Consider the social context within which we live and connect with others;
2. Creatively consider our target audience and allies, and
3. Explore a framework for understanding our communities.

Practical examples and worksheets will be provided to enable you to implement learnings and a framework for community mapping within your community and local action group context.

Collectively, we're on a mission to empower millions of Australian parents to champion climate action within their communities, the media, business and politicians. Our success is determined by how many parents, communities members and allies we can reach, build relationships with and inspire to contribute to this epic mission.

NB: This is free training for Parents for Climate volunteers, in particular local action group leaders.

Zoom link for the workshop will be provided after RSVP is received.

Will you come?

Parents for Climate meet and work on the lands of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and respect that sovereignty of those lands was never ceded. We pay respect to Elders, past and present and emerging, and acknowledge the pivotal role that Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Australian community.
