Standing in solidarity with the Jewish community

It is with great sadness and disbelief that we acknowledge the horrific act of terror that has targeted the Jewish community in Bondi overnight.

This is a very difficult day and we are standing in solidarity with the Jewish community. More broadly, it is a time for all Australians to come together in support of each other and the right to safety.

Parents for Climate is a movement of mums, dads, grandparents and carers from every electorate, every political persuasion, and every cultural and language background.

No Australian family should have to live in fear of violence or persecution for their religious or cultural beliefs. No one should feel scared to take their children to school or to a place of worship or a community celebration.

Our hearts go out to all those impacted and we honour all the acts of bravery and kindness that have saved many more lives. Hate does not serve us - it has no place in Australia.

If you can today -

  • Donate blood
  • Check on your Jewish friends and neighbours
  • Check in with your kids - this news will affect them in a variety of ways
  • Be honest, but age appropriate (here are some tips for talking to your kids)
  • Use your voice for kindness and solidarity
  • Show calm
  • Reach out for support as needed
  • Refuse hate, refuse scapegoating

This is a time for great care, for connection and unity.
Together, we are strong.
