Take the 2026 Renting Families Survey
Every child deserves a home that keeps them safe, whatever the weather. But renting families are paying more and more for homes that can still be freezing in winter, dangerously hot in summer or riddled with damp and mould. 30% of Australian residents rent. Many of our kids will be renting their whole lives.
We are calling for governments to set minimum energy efficiency rental standards so families who rent can expect to be comfortable in their own home.
But we need the evidence from renting families to make the case. We are surveying parents, grandparents and carers to understand what renting is like for families. We're also asking landlords about what you do to make your properties energy efficient. We will analyse the results of this survey to inform research, and to share powerful stories to make the case for safe, healthy homes for our kids.
