Ready. Set. Prepared: A toolkit for families

Getting ready looks a bit different depending on where you live. For some of us it’s bushfire, for others flood, storms or long stretches of heat. But the basics are the same for every family:

  • Know where you’d go. Ideally that’s a friend or family member’s place, and you’ve agreed it with them ahead of time.
  • Agree on a plan together. Decide who you’d call, where you’d meet, and who looks after what, including pets and older relatives.
  • Pack a kit. Include medicines, important documents, water and snacks, phone chargers, and a favourite comfort item for each child.

This toolkit for families includes a general "get prepared" checklist, plus tips for how to talk to your children and neighbours. The toolkit also contains links to trusted resources for families to get started on creating their emergency plan.
